Donna Huggins

Psychotherapy for Individuals, Couples, & Families

My current counselling practice combines over 30 years of experience resolving issues with high risk youth and their families, couples and families experiencing transitional stress, parent-teen conflict, mental health issues, separation, and divorce. Issues include grief and loss, addiction, depression, anxiety, and abuse. I also have extensive training and experience working with trauma, which includes relational trauma, motor vehicle accidents, medical and dental procedures, falls, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and illness to name a few.

My educational qualifications include a BA in Psychology and a master's degree in Counselling Psychology. I have helped to train therapists with the Satir Institute of the Pacific. This approach to therapy views the individual as a part of a multi-layered system of history and current relationships. I also have extensive training in Self Regulation Therapy (SRT), a psychophysiological approach to working with trauma and the nervous system. I have also received training in couples therapy from The Relational Life Institute. I am a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.
